I've been FIRED!! This is what I mean about God. It doesn't hurt to believe you can pray and have it be answered.

The fact was, he could have planted me,  Christopher Reeve fashion, like a pole into the ground. As it turned out, the dirt mark on the front of my helmet shows what part of me actually hit first; then there was one small patch on my butt. In othere words, he might possibly have broken my neck.

............That's what you call really HONKIN'. In the first two hours of training, I worked my way through nine of them. I really did some major damage control too. You have no idea how fast a simple exercise person has to move to keep several outfits strung out like that  liking it.

.......Instead Benny rode the last place finisher, Wadena. This is one of the vicissitudes of being a race rider that's really tough to take.  The public knows nothing about these personal  trials..

Two years of training and we still don't know if he's cut out ot be a race horse. Believe me, if trying the above doesn't wake this horse up, then he's not cut out for it. Time to get a new horse.

Charles told me the track was OK last night, not as wet as predicted. So everybody made it around there all right. I took a peek at the entries last night and saw what horses were in that I knew. Too bad I didn't write about it, but anyway, My friends Jack & Melanie Allen ran 4th in the first race, good ol' "Spoofer" won..............

"The young, un- started horses hold the most promise. This spring there I have several whose progress  I already plan to keep updating all year. If you stick around you'll get to know them well, and you can root for them when they run as if they were your own..."

I work six days per week at Mountaineer Racetrack & Gaming resort, at the very tip of West Virginia's northern panhandle. I have spent the last 22 years working with horses in some capacity, mostly riding racehorses, either in races or to exercise. Prior to that I groomed show horses and racehorses, among other things.
