Got up with a sore throat. Kinda late, and gotta leave in about ten minutes. Charles told me the track was OK last night, not as wet as predicted. So everybody made it around there all right. I took a peek at the entries last night and saw what horses were in that I knew. Too bad I didn't write about it, but anyway, My friend West ran 4th in the first race, good ol' "Spoofer" won, and good for him. His owner bought him in Kentucky for about two K, no breeding, no particular recommendation except that he was cheap. The horse is an old fellow now, about 7 I think. The first year he ran he beat everyone who outclassed him and probably made about 50 K. Most stories go the other way, but Spoof, he's dynamite- and nobody ever claimed him once he ran for a tag. Wardie (full name Glenn Ward) probably loves that horse like a son.
In the 3rd race, Hardhead's horse Quiet ran 3rd. Not bad for a first time out this year. He has his share of problems, Sunny does. I don't know how JP gets the job done, but he got a lot out of him. He tells me "second!" but I have news for ya, JP.....check the charts before you count your dough.
Tony the Pony's horse ran fourth in the fourth race-- That's the one I mentioned you should wish him luck. I guess there aren't enough people reading this because fourth doesn't cut it when you ship all the way from Columbus to run. Tony only got enough luck to pay for the trip.
The seventh was a prize for people who bet their phone numbers. Someday I'll tell you good story about the trainer who finished third in that race, Art Sweatt. Anyway, When you see the 8-5-4 tri, WOOOOO! , It paid $3,018.00. All long prices.
Moocow, The Sorceress's horse, won the 9th, as expected. Great Job, Moo & Mom!
Frank Todd, a Canadian who had the bug same time as I did, and whom I met at Fort Erie/ Woodbine, won the last for Frank Stronach. Gotta go to work, now!!!! No time to edit!!
